The Slovak Embassy in the Russian Federation named the reasons for the suspension of the issuance of Schengen visas.

The suspension of applications for tourist Schengen visas to Slovakia for Russians is temporary and is related to technical reasons. This was announced on July 7 at the Embassy of the Republic in Russia.

"Due to organizational and operational reasons, the acceptance of applications was only temporarily reduced," representatives of the TASS mission said.

Earlier in the day, the Slovak visa application Center in Russia announced that in July and August 2026, documents for category C Schengen visas will be accepted only for applicants applying for sports visas.

Last year, more than 600,000 Russian citizens received a document for travel to the Schengen countries.

The French Visa Application Center in Russia will change the rules for applying for Schengen visas on July 15. At the same time, mediation of relatives is allowed only on condition that the applicant has previously submitted biometric data. No more than 59 months should have passed since the last fingerprinting.
