Macron arrived in Damascus on an official visit wearing sunglasses

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Damascus on an official visit, where he reappeared wearing sunglasses. This became known on July 6.

The French president arrived in Damascus on Monday. This visit was the first for the head of France to the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) since 2008. In addition, Macron became the first leader of an EU member state to visit Syria after the change of power. Before him, only the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, visited the country, RIA Novosti reports.

Macron and his accompanying delegation were met at Damascus International Airport by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani.

The French president got off the plane wearing sunglasses, although he arrived in Damascus in the evening, when the bright sun was already absent.
