Psychologist, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Svetlana Kolosova assessed on Monday, July 6, the updated standard of care for adults with recurrent depressive disorder approved by the Russian Ministry of Health. According to the expert, the system is not only developed, but also provided with high-quality work.

"This is the presence of trained specialists and the willingness of the entire system to accept these people, observe them and take competent steps to return them to a healthy state," she said in an interview with Radio 1.

The expert added that the update of the standard is associated with a large volume of various statistics confirming global mental distress.

"In 99.9% of cases, one cannot get out of depression," Kolosova explained.

She stressed that depression has a fatal effect on the quality of life, so a therapeutic procedure is necessary.

"If a person has changed their communication style, stopped communicating, has insomnia or, conversely, constant sleep, or the food cycle has changed, pay attention. This is an indissoluble story," she concluded.

German Gref, President and Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank, said on June 30 at the annual shareholders' meeting (AGM) of the credit institution that in order to avoid depression, stress and anxiety, a person should enjoy today and avoid excessive planning, writes Life.Ru . Now the "planning horizon," as Gref explained, is starting to tend to zero due to the development of technology, writes Moscow 24.

Earlier, on July 7, Associate professor of the Department of Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Social Work of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences Maria Solovyova told the Moscow City News Agency that electroconvulsive therapy may be required by no more than 10% of patients with depression. We are talking about severe cases that are difficult to treat with drugs.
