Likhachev announced plans to discuss Kiev's pressure on NPP employees with the IAEA.

The Russian delegation intends to raise the issue of acts of psychological pressure that the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are undertaking against residents of Energodar and employees of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant at a meeting with the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi. This was announced on July 6 by the head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, at the Innoprom-2026 forum.

"The IAEA does not seem to notice this psychological pressure. That is, they still react to physical attacks. They do not name the authors of the attacks, but they react. But we have not yet seen a reaction to psychological attacks, and we will, of course, raise this disturbing issue," TASS quoted him as saying.

Likhachev noted that all relevant facts will be provided to Grossi in order to receive a clear reaction from his agency. He recalled that keeping the personnel of nuclear facilities calm is one of the five key principles of this field.

The head of Rosatom clarified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to stage night attacks on Energodar and the nuclear power plant, which forces residents of the city and station employees to leave their homes and leave the Zaporizhia region deep into Russia. It is expected that this situation will be discussed next Friday, July 10, at a meeting of the Russian delegation with Grossi, which is scheduled to take place in Kaliningrad.

Anna Evstigneeva, Acting Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), on June 29 called the ongoing attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant blackmail of the Zaporizhia region by the threat of a nuclear catastrophe. She added that the attacks by Ukrainian militants are being carried out at the NPP in order to destabilize the situation, in particular, at the facility itself.
