- A criminal case was opened after a tourist was injured in the crater of the Gorely volcano.
After injuring a tourist in the crater of Gorely volcano, a criminal case was opened against an entrepreneur who provided services to him. This was reported on July 6 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Kamchatka Territory.
"A criminal case has been opened against a 39-year-old individual entrepreneur. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers")," the agency said in a message on the Maks messenger.
According to investigators, between June 28 and July 2, the suspect organized an excursion to the Gorely volcano in the Yelizovsky district. The program included a transfer, a climb to the top, and snowboarding on a pond in the crater. At the same time, he did not provide customers with special equipment, did not inform them about the real dangers of the route, and also misled tourists about his qualifications.
On the last day of the tour, the person involved suggested to a tourist from the Irkutsk region to drive down the slope towards the reservoir on a board. During the descent on an uneven surface, the board turned over, the victim fell and received a closed comminuted fracture of the hip, which qualifies as serious harm to health.
It is clarified that the suspect has now been interrogated, and the issue of bringing charges is being resolved. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the severity of the injury to the victim's health.
Mikhail Cherepanov, a tourist injured on the Gorely volcano, told Izvestia on July 2 about how he was injured. Due to a bump on the slope, he lost his balance and started to brake with his foot. After the fall, Cherepanov and his guide contacted an ambulance so that paramedics could send a helicopter.
