- The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the possibility of a dialogue with the EU while taking into account Russia's interests.
A constructive dialogue between the European Union (EU) and Russia is impossible if the European side does not take into account Moscow's security interests and the current global situation. This was announced on July 6 by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
"It is clear that without a change in the Europeans' approaches, without a real willingness to take into account Russia's fundamental security interests and the realities on earth, we will not be able to have a full—fledged dialogue," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On June 29, Galuzin said that someone who had not previously committed hostile acts or made statements against Moscow could be an acceptable candidate for Russia to be an EU negotiator. He added that, most likely, such a person will appear if his services become necessary.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on June 25 that the time had come for Russia and the EU to start negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine. At the same time, he stressed that Berlin's support for Kiev is an "unshakeable duty."
