The training ship of the Baltic Fleet "Perekop" went on a long-range navigation trip

The Baltic Fleet training ship Perekop set sail from Baltiysk and embarked on a long-range navigation cruise to conduct naval practice with cadets from higher naval educational institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense. This was announced on July 6 by the press service of the Baltic Fleet.

Together with Russian cadets of the higher naval educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense, foreign servicemen from friendly countries who are studying seamanship in Russia went on a campaign. The training program includes practicing navigational disciplines, navigating a ship in a difficult navigational environment, and duplicating the duties of watch officers. Future officers will also be trained on modern simulators installed on board and will pass final tests in their specialty.

It is planned that the navigation campaign will last until mid-December 2026. During this time, Perekop will cover about 30 thousand nautical miles. The route runs along the Northern Sea Route, four oceans and 14 seas. The ship is scheduled to visit 20 ports, of which 12 are located in foreign countries. The call plan includes Severomorsk, Arkhangelsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vladivostok, as well as the foreign cities of Cam Ranh, Sihanoukville, Maputo, Pointe Noire, Lomé and Conakry.

A total of 900 people, including more than 140 representatives of friendly countries, will practice on the ship. Cadets from Kazakhstan, Burundi, Libya and Cameroon went on the first stage of the campaign.

The training ship Perekop is specially equipped for the training of sailors. There are specialized classrooms, navigation training complexes, an astronomical deck and a survivability control room on board. The technical equipment allows simultaneous training of up to 300 future navigators, skippers and mechanics.

The press service of the Pacific Fleet reported on July 5 that a detachment of ships of the Russian Navy from the Pacific Fleet arrived at the Qingdao base in China to participate in the joint Russian-Chinese exercises "Maritime Interaction – 2026". The Guards cruiser Varyag, the corvette Sharp, the Ufa diesel-electric submarine, and the rescue vessel Igor Belousov arrived in the waters of the Yellow Sea as part of the detachment.
