The red banner of revenge was raised over the dome of Mosalla during the funeral of Ayatollah of the Islamic Republic Ali Khamenei in Tehran. This was reported by the ISNA news agency.

"During the ceremony, a red flag with the inscription "Oh, the avengers of Hussein!" was raised over the dome of the temple of Imam Khomeini," the publication says.

In Shiite symbols, the red flag means a call for revenge. The last time the banner was raised was on March 1 after reports of Khamenei's death as a result of a missile strike by the United States and Israel.

Khamenei died at the age of 86 on February 28 as a result of a military operation by the United States and Israel in Iran. Mojtaba Khamenei, Khamenei's son, was appointed the new supreme leader of Iran on March 9.

IRIB State Radio reported on June 13 that Khamenei's farewell and funeral will be held from July 4 to July 9. The main funeral ceremony is scheduled for July 6 in Tehran. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Bagher Zulgadr said on July 1 that those responsible for Khamenei's death would be punished.
