In Germany, they reported a threat to the ecosystem due to the invasion of nutrients

The ecosystem of Germany is in danger due to the spread of invasive nutria native to South America. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on July 5, citing data from the German Hunting Union (DJV).

"Nutria are from South America and are considered an invasive species. In Germany, they have no natural predators. <...> These animals destroy reed beds, thereby endangering many species of birds, fish and amphibians. They also undermine dams, reducing the effectiveness of flood protection," the publication says.

As indicated in DJV, in the hunting season of 2024-2025, more than 130 thousand nutrients were extracted, which is 14.5 thousand more than the previous season. The union noted the rapid spread of animals throughout Germany. In this regard, DJV insists on the need for mass shooting in order to curb population growth and maintain an ecological balance.

The Luxembourg Times newspaper reported on June 21 that huge Nosferatu spiders have multiplied in Luxembourg. The first spider sightings in Luxembourg were recorded in 2020 in the Dudelange area.
