Five people, including two children, were injured in a shooting in New York on Saturday, July 4, during the celebration of Independence Day. This was reported on July 5 by the New York Post newspaper, citing the police.

"Five people, including a seven—year-old and a five-year-old child, were shot dead in Brooklyn while watching fireworks," the publication says.

The incident occurred in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn. The fire was opened at about 22:35 local time (05:35 Moscow time on July 5), when people were watching the fireworks.

It is specified that after providing first aid, the victims were hospitalized, their condition is assessed as stable. There is currently no information about the identity of the attacker and the motives of the attack.

On July 1, CBS News reported that in the US state of Florida, a woman shot and killed an army veteran as a result of a dispute over a parking space near a supermarket. According to the woman, she opened fire in self-defense.
