The State Duma called for the transfer of parental leave to a paperless format

Registration of parental leave must be transferred to a remote and paperless format. This was announced on July 5 by Tatyana Butskaya, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood.

The parliamentarian explained that, unlike a sick leave, for the appointment of a decree, it is now required to confirm the birth of a child and the right of a particular parent to leave. It is also necessary to check that there is no double payout, which is why the process does not start automatically.

"The direction of the changes is obvious: if the state is already able to obtain data on the birth of a child from registers, then registration of parental leave can and should also be transferred to a paperless format," Butskaya said in an interview with TASS.

According to the deputy, the opportunity to arrange a vacation remotely would reduce the burden on employers. In addition, it will save citizens from having to collect documents, information about which is already contained in government databases.

Nikolai Kolomeitsev, First deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, said on June 20 that working grandparents have the right to take leave to care for their grandson and receive a monthly allowance until the child turns one and a half years old. He noted that this right is enshrined in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. The condition for receiving payments is the employment of a relative and the absence of similar payments from the child's parents.
