Kim Jong-un watched the tests on the Kang Gon destroyer

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the tests of the combat systems of the destroyer Kang Gon, which took place on July 3. This was reported on July 5 by the Central Telegraphic Agency (KCNA).

"According to the test plan, a test launch of strategic cruise missiles, a test of main weapons systems, including deck guns and automatic cannons (machine guns) and radio interference equipment were conducted on July 3 to assess the power of the Kang Gon destroyer combat system," the publication says.

It is specified that as part of the planned tests, the capabilities of shipboard weapons systems were evaluated, including target search and data processing, as well as the functioning of an integrated fire system. Artillery and machine gun fire was carried out separately, after which a strategic cruise missile was launched.

According to Kim Jong-un, the tests of the Kang Gun destroyer must be responsibly completed, and the ship must be commissioned into the navy within two months.

KCNA reported on June 23 that the DPRK plans to build two Choe Hyun-class destroyers annually in the next five years as part of the development of the country's navy. The ship successfully completed a 14-month test cycle, including verification of combat and operational characteristics, after which it was transferred to the Navy.
