The United States does not intend to strike at the Iranian leadership, as this will make it impossible to continue negotiations. This was announced on July 4 by the head of the White House, Donald Trump.

According to him, the Iranian side allegedly expresses readiness for a deal, but the negotiation process has been temporarily suspended.

"They're all there. One shot and we can destroy them all, but we are not going to do that, because then we will have no one to negotiate with," the Axios portal quotes him as saying.

Trump noted that the parties had agreed on a one-week pause in contacts related to the events surrounding the funeral of former Supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei. The American leader also stated that he was surprised by the emotional reaction of some participants in the funeral events, suggesting that some of the tears might be insincere.

On July 4, the United States gave Iran a one-week break in negotiations due to the funeral of the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei. This was announced by Trump during a speech at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.
