Former First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and ex-head of the National Bank Sergei Arbuzov is going to participate in the elections to the State Duma from the Just Russia party. This was announced by the party on July 4.
"A well—known Ukrainian politician, former head of the National Bank and later First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov, will be nominated for a group of new territories, including Crimea and Sevastopol," a source told RIA Novosti.
Arbuzov served as head of the National Bank of Ukraine in 2010-2012, after which he was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister in December 2012. In early 2014, he resigned from this position, and from January 28 to February 27, 2014, he temporarily headed the government of the country.
On June 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the appointment of elections of State Duma deputies for September 20, 2026. On May 28, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation, Ella Pamfilova, announced that the elections to the State Duma would be held within three days. She clarified that 12 political parties will be able to participate in the State Duma elections in 2026 without collecting signatures. 18 political parties in Russia have the right to participate in elections at various levels.
