Accused of murdering a 12-year-old girl in Leningrad region attended Sunday school

The suspect in the murder of a 12-year-old girl in the Leningrad region, Fedor M., had previously attended Sunday school and had a criminal record for assaults. A friend of the detainee named Peter told Izvestia about this on July 4.

According to him, the acquaintance took place in the church where the witness attended Sunday school. Previously, Fyodor M. himself visited this institution, but he has not been actively involved in church activities lately.

The source noted that the suspect already had a criminal record for robbery. The man turned to criminal activity more than 11 years ago due to business failures.

"He was robbing some small shops with a toy pistol," Peter said in detail.

The man was detained on the same day. The investigator has prepared a petition to the court for the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to the detainee. The suspect later confessed to the crime.

The girl's body was found on July 3. As a result of the incident, a criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder"). The press service of the St. Petersburg search team "LizaAlert" said that the girl informed her family by phone that she was returning home, but did not come home.

The girl's mother, Tatiana Naumova, told Izvestia that before the disappearance, her daughter was heading towards the house. The girl went for a walk on July 2 and contacted her parents for the last time around 17:00.
