The Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka has released ash at an altitude of 10.5 km above sea level. This was reported on July 4 in the press service of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
"At 08:05 local time, the explosions spewed ash up to 10.5 km above sea level, and the ash cloud spread 65 km northwest of the volcano," the Telegram channel said.
They added that the eruption continues and is accompanied by powerful combined-cycle gas activity.
In addition, the volcano has been assigned the reddest aviation hazard code: ash emissions can reach 12 km and affect international and low-flying aircraft.
On June 18, the Kamchatka branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution United Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that the Shiveluch volcano had released ash at an altitude of more than 8 km above sea level. According to satellite images, the ash emission reached 8.3 thousand meters above sea level.
