The agency received nine complaints about signs with foreign words. Inspections confirmed violations in Krasnoyarsk, Uzhur, Nazarovo and Zelenogorsk. A manicure studio, sauna, service center, catering, shops and a hairdresser were targeted by the inspectors.
The owners of small businesses were obliged to bring the signs in accordance with the law, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency. Otherwise, Rospotrebnadzor initiates the filing of lawsuits in court.
Stricter rules for the design of signage began to operate in Russia on March 1. Now all signs, signs and inscriptions should be in Russian only. The exceptions are brand names, service marks, and trademarks.
Compliance with the new requirements for the use of the Russian language in public space will be monitored by the FAS, Rospotrebnadzor and Roskomnadzor. Fines are provided for violation of consumer rights in the design of signage.
