On Friday and the first weekend of the month (July 3-5), traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate. Raids on drunk motorists will take place in Tver, Arkhangelsk, Ulyanovsk, Tyumen and other regions of the country.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. Mass checks on the roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication are carried out by traffic police on an ongoing basis.
"Driving under the influence of alcohol endangers the lives of not only the driver himself, who got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication, but also his passengers, as well as other road users. We ask citizens not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness at the wheel and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road or drive drunk. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are ready to take all necessary operational measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that for driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, the law provides for the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a fine of 45 thousand rubles. In addition, in some cases, the driver is already facing criminal liability.
As reported on June 2, in 2025, there was a 4.1% decrease in the number of accidents in Russia involving drivers who were intoxicated or refused to undergo a medical examination, and almost 13.4 thousand such accidents occurred at the end of the year.
