An eyewitness reported the beating of wild animals in Adygea after escaping from the zoo

The owner of a private menagerie in the Takhtamukaysky district of Adygea, who settled wild animals in cages in a suburban area, abused alcoholic beverages. Elena, a local resident, told Izvestia about this on July 3.

She explained that she had known the neighbors for about six years — after moving to the village, they behaved in isolation and did not want to make contact. After a while, the owner of the animals began to visit Elena at a late hour of the day — her night visits lasted about a year.

"I often came to visit drunk, I never came sober. At some point, I got tired of it and told her not to come back," the woman explained, adding that her neighbor often stayed up until the morning.

On July 2, an aggressive monkey bit to death an 84-year-old pensioner who came to feed her, and then attacked her 39-year-old relative. The animal belonged to the deceased's granddaughter — in addition to primates, she kept llamas, wallabies and other animals at the cottage. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.

It later became clear that the animals had repeatedly escaped from their cages. Pavel, who lives next door, told Izvestia that the animals scattered throughout the area — sometimes locals found their corpses. The man himself was attacked by a monkey and a kinkajou, a predatory mammal from the raccoon family. According to him, the owner of the menagerie treated the pets cruelly and once beat the primate in front of his eyes.
