Chita — Zabaikalsk highway will be covered with a new protective layer

The construction of protective layers of the road surface is underway on the federal highway A-350 Chita — Zabaikalsk. There are plans to upgrade more than 70 km of the track, according to the press service of the Uprdor "Baikal Region".

Paving has already been completed on sections of the highway near the villages of Mirny and Khada-Bulak. Similar work is currently underway near the villages of Dauria and Steppe, and will begin in the Aginsky area in the near future.

By the end of 2026, the protective layer will be renewed for 47 km of the highway. During the repair, the worn asphalt layer is first milled, then a leveling layer is laid in places with weak road clothing, and then a protective layer.

According to ChitaMedia news agency, a crushed stone-mastic asphalt-concrete mixture based on polymer bitumen is used to increase the service life of the top layer. It contains more crushed stone, which makes the coating stronger, more resistant to the formation of ruts and improves the adhesion of the wheels to the coating.

The installation of protective layers allows you to level the roadway and reduce the risk of accidents. The updated canvas better resists the effects of precipitation and temperature fluctuations, which is especially important for the climatic conditions of the region.

Earlier it was reported that in 2026, two sections of the Krasnokamensk–Matsievskaya highway with a total length of 29 km will be brought into standard condition in Transbaikalia. The road provides access to the federal highway A-350 Chita – Zabaikalsk.
