When encountering a snake, the main thing is not to provoke the animal and not to make sudden movements, as in most cases it crawls away on its own. Elena Kosheleva, Executive Director of Sberbank Insurance, told Izvestia about this on July 6.

She noted that when bitten, it is necessary to remain calm, minimize movement and call an ambulance as soon as possible. Kosheleva stressed that it is absolutely impossible to apply a tourniquet or cauterize the bite site, as this may worsen the victim's condition.

"Only a doctor can determine the type of snake and prescribe treatment, so every minute is precious," Kosheleva warned.

The expert also added that if there is a travel policy or accident insurance, the victim can expect to be compensated for medical expenses or paid, depending on the terms of the contract.

Dmitry Blumenkranz, Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, senior lecturer at the Department of Veterinary Medicine at ROSBIOTECH University, said on March 22 that with the arrival of March and April, snakes appear in forests, parks and the vicinity of cities after hibernation. Most of them do not pose a threat and try to avoid people, but there are also dangerous species.
