The Federation Council proposed to stop calling Britain "great"
Great Britain should be called simply Britain, because London has imposed on the world an idea of its "greatness", which it is not necessary to agree with. This was announced on July 3 by Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council.
"By the way, I welcome the tendency to call it Britain in the future, without the "great". I kind of like it. So they have imposed their megalomania on the whole world — it's not a fact that we need to agree with this," he said in an interview with TASS.
Kosachev noted that Britain has a number of features. According to him, British representatives in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe often criticized Russia's political system and presidential elections, although in the country itself the head of state is not elected, but receives his status by inheritance.
According to the senator, Britain can independently build its own political system, but then it should not criticize the political structure of other countries, since each of them has the right to determine it independently.
On July 1, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, commented on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's statement about the most homosexual parliament in the world (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), pointing to the impoverishment of British households by 23.2% over the past five years. years old.
On June 22, Starmer announced that he would step down as leader of the ruling Labor Party. According to him, he informed King Charles III of his decision.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that Starmer had not proven himself in any way in terms of Russian-British relations, and also expressed doubt that the situation would change after Starmer.
