The demand of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga for Russia to "sit down at the negotiating table" is absurd. This was announced on July 3 by Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"On June 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sibiga, voiced through the media a frankly absurd demand for Russia to 'sit down at the negotiating table,'" he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to Galuzin, such statements contradict Kiev's official position, since earlier, in October 2022, Ukraine approved a decision banning any negotiations with the Russian leadership.

He also stressed that direct contacts between representatives of Russia and Ukraine had previously taken place in Istanbul in 2025, but later Kiev announced a unilateral withdrawal from the negotiation process.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 28 that Russia and the United States discussed the possibility of ending the conflict in Ukraine at the Anchorage summit, but no documents were signed. According to Putin, the compromises discussed at the talks were formulated and presented by the American side.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 24 that there are currently no new agreements on negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. According to him, the Russian side also has no understanding about the venue for the next meetings with Kiev. He clarified that Moscow's willingness to negotiate is Putin's consistent position, which the head of state regularly states.
