Quotas for brown bear production were determined in the Murmansk region

The Murmansk Region has set quotas and limits for brown bear production for the period from August 1, 2026 to August 1, 2027. This is reported by the Bi-port news agency with reference to the relevant decree signed by the head of the region.

The total number of bears in the Murmansk region is 1,056 individuals. 158 of them are allowed to be harvested during the year, while the predator must not be a juvenile — under the age of one year.

According to the news agency, the largest number of bears allowed to be hunted in Lovozersky district — 24, slightly less in Kandalaksha and Kola districts — 21 and 18 individuals, respectively. In the Tersk district, the quota was 15 individuals, in Pechenga — 12, in Kirovsk — 13, Monchegorsk — 11, Kovdorsky district — eight, Apatity — seven, Olenegorsk — five.

Quotas also went to mining sites. So, five bears were allowed to be hunted on the territory of the "Kola hunting grounds" and in the "Gyrfalcon", 12 more on the "Sunrises of Communism" and two on the territory of the "WUVA".

On June 26, it was reported that in the Murmansk region it was proposed to set a limit on moose production at 778 animals, which is 33 more individuals than last season. The total number of moose in the region is estimated at 11,614 individuals.
