The judicial authorities of Germany have extradited to Spain a suspect in the murder of the former adviser to the ex-president of Ukraine, Andrei Portnov. This was announced on July 2 by the head of the Madrid court's press service, Luis Salas Fernandez.

"Yesterday, the German authorities handed over to Spain and placed at the disposal of Judge Pozuelo de Alarcon the alleged person responsible for the murder of Andrei Portnov, who is already in our country," the head of the press service said in an interview with the RIA Novosti news agency.

The alleged murderer was arrested in Germany on February 25. A European arrest warrant and an investigation order were issued to search the detainee's home.

The murder of Portnov in the vicinity of Madrid was reported in May last year. The killer was waiting for the victim on a motorcycle at the school gates. When Portnov arrived, the attacker shot him at least nine times, after which he quickly disappeared.

A Spanish court has classified the murder trial. Later it became known that the Spanish national police is investigating a possible connection between Portnov's trip to Ukraine and his murder in Madrid a few days later.
