The priest told about the divine services on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

On the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, which in folk tradition is called the Apple Savior, solemn divine services are held in Orthodox churches, reflecting the special significance of this evangelical event in the church tradition. This was announced by the cleric of the church of the Great Martyr George the Victorious in the city of Vidnoye, Priest John Stepanchuk, in a conversation with Izvestia.

"On the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the divine service has a number of special liturgical moments — special readings (paremias and the Gospel about the events of the transfiguration), festive troparia and kontakion, modified hymns, and at the end of the Liturgy, a short water prayer service with the rite of consecration of fruits," he said.

The divine service is of a solemn nature and is aimed at revealing the theological content of the feast related to the appearance of the Divine glory of Christ to the disciples. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a short water prayer service is celebrated, followed by the rite of consecration of the fruits brought by the faithful as a sign of gratitude for the new harvest.
