Volkswagen may sell Lamborghini and Ducati
Volkswagen may consider selling its Lamborghini and Ducati brands as part of a cost-cutting restructuring. This is reported by the Financial Times.
According to him, the consultants advise Volkswagen management to think about this step after the successful sale of a controlling stake in Everllence, a marine engine manufacturer. As a result of the transaction, more funds were raised than initially expected. They can embark on a large-scale restructuring program and become investments in the future.
Volkswagen considered the idea of selling the Ducati motorcycle brand ten years ago, when the concern faced large losses due to the "dieselgate". As for Lamborghini, it has long been considered one of the most valuable brands of the concern. In 2025, the Italian supercar brand earned $888 million.
Volkswagen does not comment on this information. Analysts interviewed by the Financial Times believe that Volkswagen is unlikely to part with brands that consistently bring high profits.
Group CEO Oliver Blume said on June 26 that Volkswagen intends to cut 100,000 jobs in the coming years, as well as reduce the number of investments by about 15%, to €130 billion over the next five years.
