Lukashenko calls Belarus the center of Europe

On July 2, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called his country the center of Europe during talks with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto.

"I want to emphasize that Belarus is a central state in Europe. It is in Belarus that the center of Europe is located," he is quoted as saying on the Telegram channel Pool One.

The Belarusian leader referred to the geographical location of his republic, which, as explained by Lukashenko, is located between the English Channel and the Ural Mountains. He urged the Indonesian side to count on Minsk, as he, being a friend of Jakarta, would do everything necessary so that she "would not regret contacting him."

Lukashenko left for Indonesia on an official visit on July 1. The trip was part of his June 29 tour to the regions of East and Southeast Asia. China became the first country visited by the Belarusian president. There, he took part in negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and also attended the graduation ceremony at Peking University, which his youngest son Nikolai graduated from.
