The ex-intelligence officer of France called the consequences of the terrorist attack in Monaco for Kiev

Ukraine will pay a high price if Kiev's involvement in the assassination attempt on Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev in Monaco is proven. This was announced on July 2 by Claude Monique, a former intelligence officer at the Directorate General for External Security of France (DGSE) and co-founder of the European Center for Strategic Intelligence and Security (ESISC).

The expert stressed that an attempt on a businessman's life could cost the country membership in the European Union. According to him, at the moment there is no direct evidence, but their appearance will create a critical situation for the Ukrainian authorities.

"If tomorrow there is evidence — which is not available at the time of our conversation — that influential Ukrainians, possibly close to or belonging to government circles, have organized such an assassination attempt in Europe, Kiev will have to pay an extremely high price for this," said the ex—agent of the French secret service in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Monique explained that if the connection between the perpetrators of the crime and government agencies is discovered, this will have an extremely negative impact on Kiev's reputation. He recalled that the European Union provides significant support to Ukraine, which hopes to join the community.

"In its current form, this entry already seems very difficult to me, including because of corruption, and also because it is far from certain that the Europeans will support it," the agency's interlocutor noted.

According to media reports, Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev is among the injured.

On June 29, Le Figaro newspaper reported an explosion that occurred in the historic center of Monaco. Then it was noted that three people were injured in the incident, and after a while it became known that one of the wounded turned out to be Ermolaev.

This incident, which could have been a "warning" to a businessman from the Security Service of Ukraine, was condemned by Prince Albert II of Monaco. Political scientist Oleg Vedutov said on June 30 that what happened in the principality is an internal Ukrainian showdown that arose against the background of the criminal struggle in Ukraine. On June 1, the media learned about Ermolaev's plans to expose corruption in Ukraine in the European Parliament.
