- Rosatom announced the development of compressed light technology by scientists
Russian scientists have become one of the first in the world to master compressed light technology, which opens up the possibility of creating ultra-sensitive sensors for medicine and research of living systems. This was announced on July 1 by the press service of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.
"The scientists of the Quantum Project have made a breakthrough in photonic technologies: They were the first in Russia and one of the first in the world to create a compact source of a quantum "compressed" state of light on a chip, which is necessary to reach a new technological level of quantum sensors and quantum computing," the publication says.
It is specified that "compressed" light is a special quantum state of the electromagnetic field, which makes it possible to significantly increase the accuracy of measurements.
According to Rosatom, the development of Russian specialists opens up prospects for the development of quantum sensors and quantum computing. The technology can be used to create ultra-sensitive sensors for medical diagnostics, as well as in telecommunications and logistics.
Evgeny Adamov, scientific director of the Rosatom Breakthrough project, said on June 3 that humanity could receive an almost inexhaustible source of energy thanks to the development of fourth-generation nuclear reactor technologies. According to Adamov, the industrial implementation of the developed technologies is expected after 2034.
