The OP proposed to make July 8 a weekend for parents with many children
The Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, which is celebrated in Russia on July 8, was proposed to be a day off for parents with many children. Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, made such an initiative on July 2.
"I believe that the Day of Love, Family and Fidelity should be made a weekend for large families at the federal level. As a last resort, we can recommend that regional authorities and employers make it a weekend for families with children," Grib said in an interview with TASS.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the OP, an additional free day will allow parents to spend time with their loved ones and take part in festive events together. He stressed that providing a day off would be a gesture of respect for families with children from the government and business.
Family, Love and Fidelity Day is an annual All—Russian holiday dedicated to the memorial day of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom. In the Orthodox tradition, they are revered as patrons of marriage. In 2022, the holiday received official status according to the decree of the President of Russia.
On June 25, Vice Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov (LDPR) made a proposal to introduce additional family educational leave for schoolchildren for up to five days during the school year.
