In the Trans-Baikal Territory, reforestation work planned for this year has been completed by 75%. This is reported by the regional government.
In the period from June 22 to June 28, forestry specialists planted trees on an area of about 2.4 thousand hectares in the territory of the region. In total, since the beginning of the year, the planting of young trees has taken place on an area of 13.5 thousand hectares.
Thus, the work for this year has been completed by more than 75%, according to ChitaMedia news agency. They are conducted within the framework of the national project "Environmental well-being".
The authorities note that future plantings are provided by nurseries in which seeds are sown on an area of 14.2 hectares. It is expected that by 2028 this will allow to grow about 15 million seedlings of the main forest crops.
On July 1, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said that more than 46 billion rubles had been allocated from the federal budget for environmental protection on Lake Baikal. The work is being carried out in many directions. In particular, a system of state environmental monitoring is being formed, and infrastructure for waste management is being created. Six cities of the Baikal Natural Territory participate in the Clean Air federal project.
