The tragedy occurred on Friday, June 28, when a 31-year-old girl, accompanied by a young man and a friend, decided to swim in shallow water. At that moment, the reptile grabbed her by the arms. The victim's companions called rescuers, the man tried to free the girl from the jaws of the predator on his own, but his efforts did not bring results.

The tourist who lost her arm died before she could be taken to a medical facility. The personal data of the deceased is currently not disclosed. After the incident, specialists from the nature protection agencies captured two alligators in the area of the incident, which are about four meters long. DNA samples were taken from the animals for examination and to establish their involvement in the attack.

The case in central Florida was one of several fatal attacks recorded over the past week. Experts note that during this period, alligators show increased aggression, as the reptiles have completed their mating season.
