The expert named the reasons for weight gain
Daria Savelyeva, an expert on eating behavior, explained why weight can increase.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, July 1, the specialist noted that the tendency to gain weight depends not only on the calorie content of the diet and the level of physical activity, but also on the hormonal background. According to her, the key role in this process is played by insulin, which regulates blood sugar levels and energy distribution in the body.
According to the expert, with the development of insulin resistance, the cells perceive insulin worse, which is why the body begins to store energy in the form of fat, rather than sending it to the muscles. Savelieva emphasized that it is the frequent and high increase in insulin levels that contributes to the accumulation of fat reserves.
The expert also noted that age-related insulin resistance is largely a consequence of lifestyle. At the same time, according to her, this process can be controlled, since the level of insulin can be corrected.
