The Apple Savior, which correlates with the Orthodox feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, reminds believers of the need for inner transformation and spiritual growth, and is not limited to the tradition of consecrating the fruits of the new harvest. John Stepanchuk, a cleric of the Church of St. George the Victorious in the city of Vidnoye, told Izvestia about this.

"The spiritual meaning of the holiday is not in apples and grapes of the new harvest, but in reminding people that their lives should be transformed by the light of God's grace," he stressed.

The priest added that the event of the Transfiguration reveals not only the glory of Christ, but also the destiny of man — to become a partaker of the Divine light and to change inwardly.

He also drew attention to the fact that the holiday encourages believers not only to enjoy the harvest, but also to work on themselves for the sake of purification from sin, humility and spiritual growth.
