LeBron James' agent confirms the player's intention to leave the Lakers
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will continue his career with another National Basketball Association (NBA) club. This was announced on June 30 by Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports and agent of the basketball player.
"James informed the Lakers that the team can move on without him, as he will be playing for another team," ESPN said in a statement.
Thus, the 24th season in the NBA will be the first for the four-time league champion not to be a member of the Los Angeles club since 2018. It is clarified that one of the main contenders for the signing of the 41-year-old forward is the Golden State Warriors.
Later, the Lakers' press service thanked James for his eight years with the team, noting his contribution to the 2020 championship and numerous records. Last season, James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game, and also participated in the NBA All-Star Game.
"We wish him all the best for the future, both on and off the court. He will forever remain a dear part of the Lakers family," the club's press service wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On April 11, James reached the mark of 12,000 assists during his career in the regular NBA championships. The striker reached this mark in the match against Phoenix. Thus, James rose to fourth place in this indicator in the history of the league. He has won four NBA championship titles, four awards for the most valuable player of the season (MVP) and the same number for the most valuable player of the finals series.
