In Yekaterinburg, doctors at the City Clinical Hospital No. 40 performed an operation to remove a 1.8-liter giant spleen cyst from a 20-year-old patient. This was announced on June 30 by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk region.

According to the agency, a neoplasm the size of a small watermelon squeezed the girl's internal organs, which made her unable to move and eat normally. A resident of the region has known about pathology for several years, but over the past year, education has begun to grow rapidly.

"Giant-sized spleen formations are rare, because they bother the patient at an early stage and are easily diagnosed. Here we were faced with a situation where we had known about a small pathology for several years and were waiting for a favorable outcome (resorption of the cavity)," said Kamil Mersaidov, head of planned and emergency surgery at GCB No. 40, his words are quoted in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Health.

It is reported that surgeons used a gentle endoscopic method: the cyst was opened and part of its wall was removed, pumping out the contents. This made it possible to preserve the organ and avoid complete removal of the spleen. After successful treatment, the patient, who worked as a veterinary paramedic, decided to get a higher medical education and become a surgeon. Currently, the girl has already been discharged from the hospital.

The press service of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk region reported on June 24 that in Yekaterinburg, the rudiment of a wisdom tooth had grown into the nose of a 14-year-old girl. The patient was promptly hospitalized, as a violation of the outflow of mucus led to the development of chronic inflammation. The girl underwent surgery: doctors removed the tooth along with the follicle, without resorting to external incisions and drilling of the upper jaw. Two days after the intervention, the pain disappeared, and a week later the schoolgirl was discharged home.
