Ukraine has announced receiving payments from the European Union for €3.8 billion.

Ukraine has received the next tranche from the European Union in the amount of €3.8 billion. This was announced on June 30 by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

"These funds will be used to finance priority defense needs — the production of Ukrainian drones, strengthening the capabilities of the defense industry and providing urgent supplies for the needs of the military on the front line," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Sviridenko stressed that this is the first tranche of defense support under the new financial instrument Ukraine Support Loan. On June 25, the budget received €3.2 billion for budget support under the same loan. Thus, the total amount of funds received by Kiev under this program is €7 billion.

According to data released on June 24 by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the country has received new loans for an additional $45.5 billion from G7 member countries. This money, as specified, accumulated due to income from Russian assets. Two days earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on increasing military spending in the state budget. The relevant decision was related, as explained, to the attraction of large-scale external assistance from the EU.

The President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, in turn, said that the EC would provide Ukraine with the first tranche of €3.2 billion, which was part of the loan of €90 billion. Initially, it was assumed that the amount of the first payment to Kiev would be higher — it was expected that Ukraine would receive a one-time allocation of €9.1 billion.
