- The sociologist explained the increase in the number of resumes in Russia by economic uncertainty
In the first five months of 2026, the number of posted resumes in Russia increased by 52%. One of the key reasons for this dynamic was economic uncertainty and the desire of citizens to ensure financial stability. This was told to Izvestia by sociologist, director of the Association of Organizers of Student Olympiads "I am a professional" Valeria Kasamara.
According to the Avito Work service, from January to May 2026, the Russian labor market demonstrated a steady increase in job seeker activity. During this period, the number of resumes on the platform increased by 52%, and the average salary expectations of candidates amounted to 69,837 rubles/month. According to sociologist Valeria Kasamara, the main factor in the growth of interest in job search remains the desire to maintain financial stability in an unstable economic situation.
"Despite low unemployment, the economic situation remains volatile. Rising prices encourage people to look for higher—paying jobs or additional earnings to maintain purchasing power," she explained.
The expert also referred to the Rosstat report "The Socio-economic situation of Russia. January – March 2026". According to the data provided, the share of unprofitable enterprises in the country increased by 5 percentage points, which increases the risks of cuts and increases job insecurity.
"Employees, seeing the deterioration in the financial condition of their employers, are actively looking for alternative employment options to protect themselves from possible layoffs. This is a classic "preventive" behavior in the labor market: people go out to search while they still have a job, so as not to find themselves in the position of forced unemployed," Casamara explained.
