- In Ukraine, an attempt on the life of oligarch Ermolaev in Monaco was linked to call centers
The explosion in Monaco could have been a targeted attack on Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev. This was reported by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper on June 30, citing law enforcement sources.
According to the newspaper, the incident may be related to the activities of call centers in Dnepropetrovsk. Vadim Ermolaev himself is the founder of the Alef trade and production Corporation and one of the largest developers in the city.
He was previously included in the Forbes list of the 100 richest citizens of Ukraine, but later renounced his Ukrainian passport in favor of Cyprus citizenship.
As a result of the incident, the man received burns and injuries from bomb fragments. His companion, who was with him, suffered much more seriously. The woman's legs were partially torn off, she was rushed to the hospital and amputated.
An explosion occurred in the historic center of Monaco the day before. As a result of the incident, three people were injured, two of whom were seriously injured. Before the explosion occurred, surveillance cameras recorded that an unidentified man left a backpack at the entrance to the building at the moment when the victims entered there, and then disappeared. A "red interception plan" was announced in the principality to detain the criminal. The Minister of State (Head of Government) of Monaco, Christophe Mirman, called the explosion the first terrorist attack in the history of the principality. A similar assessment was given by Prince Albert II of Monaco, who called the incident a shock to all residents.
Ukrainian online publication "Strana.ua", as well as a number of other media outlets in Ukraine and France, reported that Ermolaev and his family members were injured in the explosion. He was included in the list of the richest Ukrainians in 2020 according to Forbes Ukraine, and is also considered the creator of fraudulent call centers for deceiving Russians and Europeans. The explosion that injured Ermolaev is called a showdown by the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.
