The release of the updated Lada Niva Legend starts on July 20

Serial production of the updated Lada Niva Legend SUV will start on July 20. The press service of AvtoVAZ announced this on June 30 in its Telegram channel.

The updated classic Niva was presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 3. In total, the car has more than 100 new and more than 60 upgraded parts and assemblies.

The SUV is equipped with a 1.8-liter eight-valve engine, which is already equipped with Niva Travel. The maximum torque has increased by 24 Nm, 80% of this value is available from 1000 rpm. The engine has become more economical — the specific fuel consumption has decreased by 3-30%, depending on the mode.

For the first time, body parts made of double-sided galvanized steel were used on the Niva Legend, and the driver's front airbag was also introduced for the first time. The ignition switch has been moved to the right side. Ventilated front brake discs are used. The front suspension has been upgraded: The stabilizer bar is shifted forward, which improved handling and smoothness, the company noted.

According to the head of AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov, the Lada Niva SUV will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027.: The production of the model will continue for a long time, and there are no plans to remove it from the assembly line.

Earlier, on June 25, AvtoVAZ announced the expansion of the Lada Iskra line. The production range of the model includes a station wagon in the new Drive configuration with a 1.6-liter engine (106 hp) and a 6-speed manual transmission. Previously, the Iskra station wagon with a 106-horsepower engine was offered in conjunction only with an automatic transmission.
