On June 29, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the possibility of his resignation in the next three to four months and holding early parliamentary elections in the republic.

"Yes, it makes sense, we will have elections soon. When I say "soon," I mean the next three to four months. <...> And as for whether I will run for Prime Minister, no matter what I do or what decision I make, everything will be transparent, just as in the case of with the announcement of my resignation," he said on the Serbian RTS TV channel.

When asked about the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections, Vucic said he did not rule them out, but was not ready to give an exact date or even a month for their start. According to him, it does not matter for the people whether the elections will be held in August or on September 1.

Political analyst Alexander Asafov said yesterday that the Serbian president's desire to resign early indicates that he has made a strategic decision in favor of the state. According to the expert, the Serbian authorities have analyzed the results of the elections in Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova. Based on this analysis, it was concluded that in conditions of political turbulence, the country needs to maintain stability without interference from external actors.

On June 10, Vucic announced his plans to resign and then run for the post of prime minister. According to him, the Serbian leader may make the appropriate decision even earlier than in 3-4 months.
