- Sobyanin spoke about the plans for the reconstruction of the Vorobyovsky overpass
The comprehensive reconstruction of the Vorobyovsky overpass will be completed by the end of the year, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said in his channel in the Maks messenger. As a result, the transport accessibility of the Vorobyovy Gory Sports complex, Luzhniki Sports Complex, Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Moscow Palace of Pioneers and many other important urban facilities will be improved.
The reconstruction of the Vorobyevsky overpass has become part of the overall complex of works on the renovation of adjacent urban highways — Kosygina Street, Komsomolsky Avenue and Vernadsky Avenue. The overpass is now 70% complete. All this time, it continues to work: while work is being carried out on one half, uninterrupted movement of pedestrians and vehicles continues on the other.
According to the mayor of the capital, the reconstruction of the Vorobyovsky overpass is part of a global metropolitan program aimed at increasing the reliability and extending the service life of the transport infrastructure. In recent years, the city authorities have put about 60 bridges in order as part of this program. Last year alone, the reconstruction of seven metropolitan road infrastructure facilities was completed. Among them are the Rostokinsky Aqueduct, the Skolkovo Bridge, the Kosino-MKAD, Vladychino-Krutitsy, Koksogazovy, Krasnopresnensky and Varshavskaya-MKAD highway overpasses. A number of major road structures will also be renovated in the capital this year.
