The number of people injured in the 5.5 magnitude earthquake in the Chinese province of Sichuan has increased to 13. This was reported on June 29 by the publication Cnfund.
"13 people received minor injuries and were taken to hospital; 196 people were urgently evacuated. Currently, there are no serious casualties, public order is stable, and work to eliminate the consequences of the disaster is being conducted in an orderly manner," the publication says.
It is noted that the earthquake was recorded near the village of Shahe, Gao county. The seismic event was located at a depth of 6 km.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway.
On the eve of the seismic event, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported. The epicenter was located 311 km west of the city of Xunchang, which has a population of about 118 thousand people. The center estimated the magnitude of the earthquake at 5.2.
