The Museum of the World Ocean is recognized as a particularly valuable cultural heritage site

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree according to which the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad is included in the list of particularly valuable cultural heritage sites of the country's peoples. The relevant decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal acts on June 28.

The decree notes that the federal state budgetary cultural institution "Museum Reserve Museum of the World Ocean" is included in the list of objects of special historical and cultural value.

The initiative to include the museum in the state register of cultural heritage sites came from the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Alexei Besprozvannykh, in August 2025. The President also emphasized the educational and cultural significance of the museum, fulfilling the dream of seven-year-old Igor from the Moscow region as part of the "Wish Tree" campaign.

The Museum of the World Ocean is Russia's first comprehensive maritime museum, which includes exhibitions on the history of ocean exploration, its nature, geology and hydrology. The museum has a marine library, an ecological station and the Embankment of the historical fleet, as well as revived cultural heritage sites.
