Apple needs to take retaliatory measures due to the removal of Russian VK applications. Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Republic of Crimea and a member of the Security Committee, made such an initiative on June 27.

"I think we should take retaliatory measures against Apple for removing Russian applications if they do not realize and do not recognize the fallacy of their policy," Sheremet said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the actions of the American technology company against Russia today are extremely politicized. Sheremet noted that the Russian Federation needs to counter threats that come from information security and Internet communications.

On June 25, Apple unilaterally and without warning removed VK apps from the App Store. According to VK, Apple's actions limit Russian users' access to in-demand services.

Anton Gorelkin, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Technology, stressed on the same day that removing VK apps from the App Store was an information war against Russia. According to the deputy, Apple's chaotic behavior may lead to a loss of trust among Russian users.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that removing Russian apps from the App Store calls into question Apple's reliability as a commercial service provider. According to him, this is not the first time that the corporation removes applications from domestic developers from the Russian segment of the App Store.
