Zakharova responded to Poland's intention to take away the building of the former Consulate General of the Russian Federation

All problems that arise in the real estate sector must be solved through consultations. On June 27, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the intention of the Polish authorities to seize the building of the former Russian Consulate General in Gdansk through the court.

"All the accumulated problems in the real estate sector should be resolved, as the Russian side has repeatedly suggested, through consultations with a comprehensive settlement through a new intergovernmental agreement," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier in the day, Wojciech Murawski, an adviser to the Polish Prosecutor General's Office, said that a lawsuit had been filed with the Gdansk District Court to transfer the building housing the Russian Consulate General.

The Polsat TV channel reported last December that officials from Gdansk in Poland unsuccessfully tried to seize the former building of the Russian Consulate General, but they were not allowed inside. At the same time, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Gdansk is currently closed, its term of operation expired on December 23, as the Polish Foreign Ministry withdrew its consent to its work. It is noted that Russian diplomats have occupied the consulate building since the post-war period. And in 1951, the Polish People's Republic and the Soviet Union signed an agreement on the free use of the building.
