Fico expressed regret over the discussion of military aid to Kiev in Gdansk.

On June 25, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico expressed regret over the outcome of the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Gdansk, where participants focused on military supplies rather than a peaceful settlement.

"I am very sorry that relatively many prime ministers and countries in the European Union support the war. More and more money is being sent to Ukraine. A military loan of €90 billion was approved, and the first tranche to Ukraine was made just today. I can say that Slovakia does not participate in this military loan at all," Fico said in an address posted on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

Fico stressed that Bratislava intends to provide Kiev exclusively with humanitarian support. In his opinion, the meeting confirmed the international community's lack of interest in ending the fighting.

He noted that in Gdansk, the parties again discussed the allocation of funds for the purchase of new batches of weapons. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers warned that if the course towards militarization is maintained, the conflict will drag on indefinitely.

"We need to sit down at the negotiating table, and it's better to negotiate for three years than to continue killing people for three years. Slovakia is a peaceful country and does not support this military madness," concluded Fico.

On June 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on the demands of the European Union (EU) for Russia to provide Ukraine with so-called reparations, stop the advance of troops and abandon the liberation of the Donetsk People's Republic. In addition, the EU demands to agree to the deployment of French and British troops in the territories controlled by Kiev. He ironically noted the "mental health" of the EU leaders.

Lavrov, in an article for Politico Europe on June 19, said that Europe had unexpectedly "changed the record" and started talking about negotiations with Russia to save the Zelensky regime, "freeze out" the conflict and preserve Ukraine as a springboard to continue the fight against the Russian Federation.
