Ukraine's budget deficit will reach a record 2.04 trillion hryvnias in 2027.

The deficit of the state budget of Ukraine in 2027 is projected at a record level of 2.04 trillion hryvnias ($45.49 billion). On June 25, it follows from the data of the Ministry of Finance of the country.

This will exceed the expected deficit of 2026, which amounts to 1.9 trillion hryvnias ($42.37 billion). Ukraine's total expenditures in 2027 will reach 5.04 trillion hryvnias ($112.39 billion) against 4.8 trillion hryvnias ($106.3 billion) this year.

To cover the gap, Kiev is counting on external assistance in the amount of $47.6 billion. Dollar-denominated expenses decreased due to the fall in the hryvnia exchange rate: since the beginning of the year, the national currency has weakened from 42.35 to 44.88 hryvnia per dollar, and in early June the exchange rate dropped below 49 hryvnia per dollar.

The European Commission referred to the "technical steps" not carried out by Ukraine

European Commissioner for Economics Valdis Dombrovskis announced on May 20 that the EC and Kiev had completed negotiations on allocating €3.2 billion to Ukraine in mid-June as part of a loan of €90 billion for 2026-2027. He noted that the new aid, according to the European Union, should strengthen Ukraine's economic stability.
