Maduro addressed the people of Venezuela after the massive earthquake

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was taken to the United States, addressed the Venezuelan people against the backdrop of a large-scale earthquake in the country. A corresponding appeal on behalf of the politician and his wife, Celia Flores, appeared on June 25 in the official Telegram channel and on the social network page of X Maduro.

"In light of the powerful earthquake that struck our country, our prayers go out to the affected Venezuelan families. In this difficult time, we call for national unity, peace and love. Our hearts are with all of Venezuela!" the statement reads.

According to CNN, Maduro and his wife are currently in custody in a federal prison in New York.

In his address, the Venezuelan leader called on residents of the country to support the work of rescue and medical teams.

"Let no one be left alone, let every community take care of their children, grandparents, and the sick. <...> Venezuela has gone through many trials, and we will come out of this ordeal strong, with faith, discipline, and solidarity," Maduro said.

A large-scale earthquake has occurred in Venezuela. What is known

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred on June 24 in the Venezuelan state of Yaracuy in the north of the country. It is noted that the source of the natural cataclysm lay at a depth of 13 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 60 km northwest of the city of Valencia, as well as 28 km northeast of San Felipe.

The Reuters news agency reported on the same day that the Venezuelan authorities had declared a state of emergency after the devastating earthquake. The corresponding statement was made by the Commissioner of the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodriguez.
